EVERTRIM METABOLIC BOOST PROGRAM
The EverTrim Metabolic Boost Program is based on clinical research that shows you how to increase your metabolic rate by varying your calorie intake while emphasizing certain foods. As with much of the research information I have uncovered, the studies supporting this program were done many years ago. On pages 34 and 35 I tell you what researchers discovered about short-term variance in calorie consumption versus the effects of long-term dieting. Instead of lowering metabolism, as occurs with continual dieting, the right combination of certain foods with the appropriate short-term reduction in calories can actually stimulate metabolic rate. You will learn that these short-term changes increase the levels of certain key neurotransmitters that produce positive effects that result in weight loss. Clinical studies confirm the dynamic affect these short-term changes can have on energy balance and metabolism. These short-term changes also work with the Essential Food Nutrients, which are discussed in Chapters 6 and 10 where there is a detailed discussion of their role in weight loss. Although the Metabolic Boost Program involves a reduction in calories, I do not consider this to be dieting because the objective is decidedly different. With dieting, the objective is to reduce calorie intake over an extended period of time in order to lose weight. On an extended diet the metabolic rate continues to fall and stays depressed, which makes it increasingly difficult to lose weight. With the Metabolic Boost Program the reduction in calories is designed to actually stimulate metabolic rate. Since the results of this program are exactly the opposite of the results from dieting, it does not make sense to call this a diet. Instead, I prefer to call it a metabolic management program that uses a combination of varying calorie intake while emphasizing certain foods. In Chapter 4 you will learn how this program works and can try the Booster Menus on page 36.
